Theisen Brock has an extensive federal income tax and Ohio tax practice. Federal income tax planning is an important consideration in all commercial transactions. Sometimes, tax planning is the primary focus of the transaction. The firms engages in individual, corporate, partnership, and trust income tax planning. The firm’s federal income tax practice includes minimizing the tax costs of a sale of a business, obtaining determination letters with 501(c)(3) status for not for profit corporations, choice of tax ststus in the formation of businesses (Subchapter C, Subchapter S, Subchapter K, or “dirsregarded entity”), and federal and state estate gift planning. The firm on occasion represents taxpayers in connection with IRS disputes, including audits, offers in compromise, and other administrative matters. Our firm also engages in state tax practice. Our attorneys on occasion represent taxpayers before the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals and is also engaged in limited tax planning and advice for West Virginia taxpayers.
