Our firm has been the regional leader in the oil and gas industry for more than 40 years.
The firm primarily represents producers in the Appalachian basin in the states of Ohio and West Virginia. We count some of the country’s largest oil and gas producers among our clients, as well as many regional and local mid-size and small producers.
Recently, the firm has also represented some landowners in our community. The firm has seen the full cycle of boom, bust, and gloom in the energy sector. Representation of oil and gas clients primarily involves enforcement of oil and gas leases; negotiation of leases; securing mechanic’s liens; oil and gas title work, including obtaining forfeiture of stale oil and gas leases or instituting Dormant Mineral Act cases to obtain the release of old oil and gas leases; acquisition and sale of oil and gas properties; acquisition of facilities; pipeline rights of way and construction; permitting issues; interpretation of oil and gas provisions; and some representation of producers before the Ohio regulatory authorities. The firm has also been engaged on a limited basis in representing clients to obtain securities exemptions for the sale of oil and gas exploration companies or for the sale of working interests in oil and gas wells.
In the past, the firm has represented many creditors in oil and gas bankruptcies. Our firm is also on the front lines of ever-developing oil and gas litigation. The energy sector is going full circle, and is currently thriving in the current environment with the continued exploration and development of shale energy sources.
Theisen Brock is prepared to advise its clients in all facets of the present energy climate.
